Can A Game Designer also come up with ideas for the stories etc.. AKA Write Them? Because I see writing ass a different section than game design =, but at the same time I read Articles telling me that the game designers are the guys who come up with the stories I'm so confused. :confused:

1. Yes. That is possible.
2. To not only conceive the overall plot but also write it in detail is less likely.
3. You are not alone there.
4. Stop reading those articles, then.
5. Get used to it. The world is confusing. Don't try to make sense of it -- it's not possible, and the effort can drive you mad.

It varies on the company. Smaller teams and companies may have their designers do a lot of the text/writing while larger studios might have a dedicated writer or contract one in.

Also the storyline/plot can be separate from the writing. A designer can storyboard or roughly outline the plot/story without needing to do the final writing.

yeah its depends on the company i though low budget companies do everything together

I'm working for several creative studio in Paris.
It clearly depends on the size of company. The less money the studio have, the game designer have work to do :)

Think about it from this side... YOU are the gamedesigner. You watch over the hole project, you do not say in detail what the programmer or writer should do, you set the path for the actions those guys will do. When you are not good at writing than just inform yourself what they are doing, just staying in touch and stirring them into the right direction if it doesnt fit the idea of the game, thats what you do. Hope I wrote not to agressiv, i am sorry if my english isn't the state of the art. Hope I could help. :)
