Okay I'm experimenting. Stuff like beef jerky and fruit leather is damn expensive, so I decided to make my own. It doesn't take that much effort, but it takes a loooot of time. The round steak cut in slices is currently marinading in the fridge with teriyaki sauce, soy sauce, and garlic salt (8 more hours to go), and the mango puree with honey is baking with the oven door open at 149degrees (also 8 hours before I should even bother checking it).
After the fruit is done, I'll switch it out for the jerky. I have to put it on a rack above a cookie sheet to catch drips.
I will report back tomorrow with progress and if it was a big disaster or a delicious experiment.
