As long as I knew ahead of time which day the meetings were held on, I would be more inclined to prepare for them mentally knowing that I wouldn't be programming for most (if any) of the day.

Agreed, as one great quote I read said, "Programmers aren't sports cars, they are more like trains. It takes a while for them to get really going and when you stop them it takes them a while to get going again." So when you have a lot of meetings you have to keep starting and stopping.
