There are a lot of games with nostalgic value though, and maintaining the style would be awesome. I was playing an awesome game called Noitu Love 2 that follows this approach. It was very old school graphics, midified sound effects and other awesome features reminicient of historic arcade titles.

If someone want's to make a game in the epic style of XenoGears, I think there's a whole niche waiting for that!
