Mirror's Edge is what defined 2008 for me. Incredibly promising-looking during the hype phase, but in the end a bit of a let-down—though very pretty. Other games of 2008 that fit that description: Grid, Dead Space, GTA IV (yes, really!), Spore and even Smash Bros. Brawl.
