Do any game companies ever buy songs from indy composers? I have about 200 songs all mixed on Protools, that I am trying to get out of my hard drive. I have created many songs in different genres. What is the typical norm, if any?

Yes and no. Some companies have their own sound department, others outsource or license music.
Considering that you are rather unknown in the industry, you might be better off seeing if any indy game developers are interested.

Hi users and friends i am new member of you website and i have some views on this topic.which i express my original way. It's no great surprise that video game retailers are very happy with the release of GTA IV, the latest installment of Rockstar Games' wildly successful Grand Theft Auto series. What is a little surprising is the buzz being created in the music industry by the addition of a new feature that connects players to Amazon.com's online music store, where songs featured in the game can be purchased.

I've heard of composers being headhunted and recuited onto development teams for various games. For example, Xenosaga featured Yasunori Mitsuda (I) and Yuki Kajiura (II & III).

SSPl,
Could you elaborate? What are your unique views and how can they help frankanalog out? You're not making much of a point, unless you're trying to advertise amazon.com's music sales... |

I'm not really sure either. He could mean selling music over Amazon.

I think what he saying *(don't take my specific word)* it that the game connects to amazon.com and will randomly play music from the site in the game, thus promoting sales from the site.
So theoretically, if you music is on amazon.com, it could be played in GTA IV |

Actually after reading that post again, I am pretty sure that was spam. Because that is not how GTA IV works.

That would be pretty awesome, though.

Yea it would be, except unless there was a database on the game already it would require a connection to the internet :/ Obviously that could be a bad thing. "I have no music because I have no internet?!?!?!"
