I'm going to step in and give you a bit of a heads up as this is a topic of much confusion in the industry.

Most companies require you to have 3+ years of experience in some of the areas of your interests. Most also require you to have a college degree and some previous works.
This is a half truth. As most companies would like 3+ years of experience you more then have it. By 3+ years we do not mean professional experience. In fact if you have that then it's a feather in your cap.

Also a degree is not required in the slightest. In fact no formal education is required. This industry is still in it's early years and you have to remember that the guys who are now at the top of the big companies where mostly self taught. This means they know that a degree is not required. What they say by placing this in the job requirements is that they want that level of work not the piece of paper.

One of my friends went to work at Rockstar Toronto with no degree, and only some experience on a mod group. Now he works on triple A titles and he's only 20 years old.

So decide for yourself if you will learn more going to a school or if you can teach yourself just as efficiently, then make the choice best for you.
