If I do start in an indy, what capabilities will I have to help the company? In my current state, what can I do for them? How may I be able to support them and such?

If you join an indy, then you do whatever you signed up for.

Where would be a good place to go Indy? Someone I know told me that you can work online with others to develop a project. Also, I'm still a tad bit worried of what skills I could possibly provide to them. I know very little about programming and I'm not exactly Picasso. What could I do to help them on their projects? The only thing I could think of possibly providing them is with music and ideas, but I don't feel like that's enough. Anyhow, any suggestions on where I could find someone online or what skills I might be able to provide to them?

What sort of "indie" are you looking to join? An established dev studio or a small unpaid team of developers?
If you're just looking to do smaller projects find one of your favorite moddable games and either start your own project or join someone else. Your first post is a bit unclear. You should know your own capabilities better than anyone else. If you really want to provide value to a project then sign up and dive in! The best way to learn is through actually doing, so pick your field of interest and start learning. |

If the team doesn't think you are good enough, then they won't let you join them. Even for an Indy, a portfolio does matter.

Gamedev.net Help Wanted section.
IGDA forums. Are you actually looking for an Indie company (with the intention to make money) or joining a serious team?
