Hi All,
Could anyone give me their opinion on which language - Flash or Python - is easier for adding online functionality such as multiplayer or scoreboards into your game? It would be a simple game, with very simple graphics. Thanks a lot. |

Your question is a little vague... Are you asking if you should make your entire game in Flash or Python, keeping in mind it requires multiplayer or scoreboards, or are you asking what technology is more suited for adding those features to an existing game?
And is this game played in the browser, or installed on the desktop?

I thought my ignorance probably came through in the question. I'm asking about making the entire game in one or the either.
To be honest, I hadn't thought of whether it is played in the browser or from an installation. I guess I should figure that out. Can you still answer my question without that knowledge? |

Well, then I would assume Python would make it easier, because it has more robust networking capabilities than Flash (to my knowledge). Also, whenever you want some advanced networking in Flash projects, you'll quickly find you need to run a Flash Media Server.
However, if you consider the entire game making process, I'd say Flash is the "easier" choice, because it's a lot easier to maintain (and create) game assets with, and it comes with a decent IDE.

Thanks protector. I think my group is probably going with Flash.
