Default Advise on getting into the industry?

Hello! I'm new here. Just trying to do some research on what I have to do to go about getting into the gaming industry. I have no experience at all and I have no college degree . I'm a Veterinary Assistant at the moment, and I do not see myself making a career of it. I'm trying to get some advise from people in the industry to see where I should even start to achive my goal of getting into the industry. I like graphic arts, and drawing, painting, art. I thought about going to school for graphic design but decided I should do some reading first. I am a gamer and would love more than anything to get into the gaming industry. So with that being said, if anyone has any advise for me as to where I should start my journey...it would be greatly appreciated! Thank you so much!

Except you might be able to bypass the degree, depending on how long you've been a vet assistant.
And I need to update the section on the cover letter -- it exaggerates the importance of cover letters.

Thank you so much Tom for sharing your website and information with me. I've only scratched the surface of the info that you give but I feel now that I know what I will need and I will be prepared for the industry! I have been a Vet Assistant for 2 years now, I do have some college experience in that field. I mostly...as hobbies, do photo manipulation, some photography, I draw cartoons and anime, I also paint them. Other hobby of course is gaming and LOTS of experience with that lol! I know I will most likely need to relocate for one thing which honestly would be a good change I think. I appreciate you advise and thank you again for sharing your information with me!
