Hello, i was looking in bethesda softworks for jobs, only to get information about requirements, while i saw that to be a programmer i got to have a bachelor in computer sciences, so there are some questions to come to my head, about if i become a programmer.
1.- Is Computer sciences the same as Engineer in Computer systems? 2.- If i Study interactive Digital design and later a bachelor or master in Game Develpment, can i be able to be a programmer or i got to study another career. 3.- I saw in Full Sail school they give a bachelor in game develpment prometing become a level designer, audio designer, progammer, at the end, but if this is school is recomended, or there is one more recomended or best in this area. Thanks. |

Hiya, I have just started a module in AI programming for my computer games programming course, and was wondering what was the advantages and dissadvantages of life in the games industry, and in more detail the requirements and a typical day,a AI programmer might experience

What would you like to study? My preference would be Computer Science but as I said in another thread, the degree matters little if you can prove you have the skills during the interview and application process.

Please don't double post. This is a forum not an IM session so please don't expect instant answers. I can't fully answer the question because I haven't been in a team that has an AI only programmer.
The life in a general day for an AI programmer would be the same as any programmer on the team so day to day duties will differ from project to project. Since I can't detail the actual tasks due to NDA issues, is there anything else you want to ask? Advantages in the games industry: - Working with like minded people - Reasonably laid back working environment - Opportunities working with the latest technology in the industry Disadvantages: - Depending on companies and projects, expect crunch periods/long hours - Generally paid lower then non-game programming jobs - Can be hard to break into the industry without experience
