Good news, I just survived (I think) the design test phase of the job application process with a game studio. I have a phone interview lined up next week. My question: What is the best way to prepare for the interview?
The way I see it, I can spend my time: Revisiting the test/my resume to anticipate questions they may have Polish up my demo material. ( I assume they've seen it, but this person may not have) Play more of their games and take notes(I presume there will be questions) Any insight would be super helpful. Thanks! |

On top of what you have:
Prepare some questions to ask them. Eg Studio culture, team celebrations, etc? They might ask what value you bring to company (i.e. why should they hire you) They might give you a scenario or problem to fix/work through. Just remember to verbalise your thinking otherwise you will end with silence. Favourite games and why. They might extend the question on to how you would improve it. That's all I can think of at the moment.

Read everything you can find about that company before you interview.

Thanks both of you! I did find a lot of potential questions before the interview. They asked me the majority of those. Your blogs and advice definitely helped. I will keep you all posted on how it goes.
