Default Help with starting.

Hello. I am currently interested in getting into gaming as a career but I have no idea where to start. I am 31 years old and have held various jobs but nothing to do with video games. I have played them my whole life and listen to podcast after podcast on gaming, so i feel like this is where my real interest lies. My problem is I am 31 years old so I am late to the game, and I am not sure what specific area I should focus on. I know that the actual design of games is a bit too technical for me so I am thinking along the lines of the discussion of games or something like that. I know this is pretty vague but maybe someone could sort of guide me along? Thank you.

There is no job "discussion of games," unless you mean like "game reviewer" (which is essentially a journalism job, not a game industry job).

You can read about game jobs at these places:
http://www.skillset.org/games/careers/profiles/
http://archives.igda.org/breakingin/career_paths.htm
http://www.sloperama.com/advice/lesson7.htm

That's where you need to begin.

I always thought the Marketing side of things would be interesting. I took some marketing classes a few years ago. Thank you for the information.

Then you should read up on the game industry, and then do the smart tricks for getting into the industry.
Subscribe to gamasutra and GamesIndustry International.
Read for at least a month.
Then read http://sloperama.com/advice/lesson27.htm
