Hey everyone, I'm new to Game Career Guide but Iv read several articles concerning Game Design and such. I have read that the best way to start is to create (a) game(s) early on, for experience purposes. I'm just wondering what sort of programs/applications I should be using to get a head start on Designing (mainly Level design, but I'm also shooting for Lead Design - being the mastermind behind the game)? I'm mostly into RPG-type games but I also play around with FPSs and I heard MODing is also a good start, but I'm not sure what sort of programs are easy to pick-up on. Links and/or suggestions appreciated, thanks in advanced

Making games:
http://www.yoyogames.com/gamemaker http://www.3dgamestudio.com/ For making/modding games, do a google search for "Name of game" level editor "Name of game" modding tools Most othe FPS's level editors are nearly the same but Unreal's would be a good choice as a lot of games use the core engine. I read also recommend reading this FAQ as well: http://www.sloperama.com/advice.html
