Hey everyone,
I was wondering if I can get someone inside the industry to help answer a particular question for me. The other day I noticed that Insomniac Games was opening an additional office in North Carolina and was wondering if any other companies were thinking about making a similar transition. I know that there are several companies on the east coast, but the amount on the west coast is much greater. I am a NYC suburbia native and I have an east coast bias, I just love it over here. I know that everyone tells me that you need to be willing to move and I am somewhat willing, but still want to stick to the east coast in the end. I have a plan that if I indeed got a job offer on the west coast, I would go out there, get experience with that particular company and then perhaps look for something back over here. After all this blabber, I basically just want to know if anyone has an idea if this could be a trend of the future for companies with the fast growing game industry. Thanks! |

Possibly, since cost of living is cheaper on the east coast than the west, as well as building costs and such, I could see this being a growing trend. But there are a lot of companies on the east coast already if you check out http://gamedevmap.com/ you will notice this.
