Writing a paper for my business class

Hi everyone,

I'm taking Intro to Business, as part of one of my associate degrees I'm currently earning.

Our final grade is a research paper that requires two magazine articles and two internet articles as citations, and must be at least 5 pages...not too shabby

My problem with this is I need something I am passionate or at least interested in...it's not an absolute necessity but it makes writing the paper much more enjoyable!

I would love to write about something that involves the interactive media industry...anything that is a focused topic and is business related.

Some examples I was thinking of are outsourcing development processes, the difficulty of starting an independent studio, or something along those lines.

I could really use some guidance..I am subscribed to Game Dev magazine, but there are so many issues I wouldn't know where to start! Are there any well known articles analyzing the industry (like the Payroll survey ones for example) that I could use for inspiration in writing this paper?

I would like to avoid writing on a generic subject as much as possible, I'd love to analyze a part of the games industry for my class =)

The current issue of Game Developer has a salary survey. Have a glance at the articles on Gamasutra Features->Business section.

If you can find anything with Michael Pachter that is usually business related. Though I'm not sure anything with him in it will be long enough. Gamasutra usually has a lot of articles also.

The recent slew of industry mergers might be a good topic to write about. You could find more than a few sources on it.

GamesIndustry.biz usually has alot articles related to business news.

This is exactly what I was thinking =)

I'm changing my paper topic to mergers/buyouts, and am going to use the recent Vivendi stuff as an example.

Were there any other recent mergers that I could cite?

Just in case this paper isn't due yet. I read this article a year ago in fortune. It's above 5 pages and well written. Though I must say, it's more on the marketing side of things.
