Jak and Daxter: Vivid, humoristic and innocent, yet serious and grim. The PS2 really shines in these games.

Grim Fandango: Aztec culture wrapped in film noir? Nice. A must for any visual aficionado.

Rollercoaster Tycoon: Kudos to Chris Sawyer for this one. The quintessential theme park experience.

Many more games deserve to be mentioned, but these were the ones that first came to mind.

Assembly is awesome! It reminds me of PICs (Peripheral Interface Controllers) and other programmable microchips, except you have a ton more memory to play with

I wouldn't want to make a whole game using it though. Too complicated to keep track of everything that's going on!

Yes, Metal Gear Solid was a truly amazing experience. Never played anything like it, it was so emotionally engaging (except obviously MGS2, MGS3, MGS4 ).
