Do whatever you feel would be best for you. If you get the images rendering to the screen and the game loop working you're most of the way there, so you might as well finish what you've got.

How's everybody doing? My pong's coming along quite nicely, although I'm not sure if I'll finish it in time. (Which would be next saturday. Which is soon!)
Also, I found out my twist has already been done, although executed a little differently. Balls.

Ok I'm in, this is my submission and it will change only if bugs are found. So you can play it and test it. Every critic is welcome.

That's damn impressive! And actually fun to play, too. :D
I like how the 'ball' is a square. It messed with my head a few times. (Stupid head. Thinking round objects are balls... :P)

You can't imagine how important are those simple words you just said.
Thank you very much.

At this point, it is not looking good for me. Claxon gave me some advice how to get my bitmaps into the game and I'm almost at done with that, but then I actually have to make the game. Even if I don't finish in time, I will obviously see this to completion. Thanks for your help so far, definitely wouldn't have been where I was without the help.

I just squeezed in a little play time of your game at work and boy was it fun! Took me some time to assassinate that paddle! He is a shifty character, awesome game!

I've been working on my special pong, not ready to release a playable demo. I've not actually done the code for the ball colliding with the paddles, or scoring yet (that's the easy part so I've been working on the more fun aspects of this little project). here are a couple of screenshots (it seems Martin and I had similar ideas although in my version, the gun turrets rotate and are most useful for shooting the ball to deflect it's movement, since you wont be able to destroy the opposition).

Pretty sweet. Two questions.
1. Did you make that model? 2. Is that toon shaded? I see a black outline on the model.

Yup, I made it in 3D Studio Max. And yes it is toon shaded, I tried it out and decided it looked so much better than just standard rendering. I will therefore most likely NOT be releasing the code for my game, because it will make you cry (but then has anyone ever seen any non-hacky game code?)
