You'd probably be able to get into Austin GDC if you showed up that day and decided to register on-site, but you'd pay a few hundred dollars more to do it then. If you register early, the discounts are significant.

The deadline for the alumni and super advanced registration is July 31.
The "early bird" deadline is August 27.

according to the registration page (http://www.austingdc.net/register/passoptions.htm) these prices are for the main conference pass that does not grant access to the Game career seminar, do you know if it's possible to buy 2 passes (instead of buying the all access pass?).

Oh gosh, you're right! Sorry. It's a bit confusing.

So you want to buy a Main GDC pass ($395) and a Career Seminar pass ($99), but not the all access pass (meaning you can't go to the Worlds in Motion Summit). I think that should be fine. That's actually a pretty good deal that way!

Hmmm,
I just saw that there will also be a seminar at the E for all convention,
now I'm in a dillema regarding which one to go to
(Sadly, I can only go to one)

TG1, Just so as to let you know- it's my understanding that the guildhall will have our own area at GDC, and I know at least that we will all be there with major faculty as well. I can try to remember to bring some pictures for you if you'd like!

Other than that, you might try to get in touch with rene at the GH - I don't know how we are all getting to and from the GDC, but if it's a communal bus thing they might be able to let you go along with. There's plenty of new GH students that wouldn't mind putting you up for a while, either.

Paris GDC might be as good as it gets guy. Don't be afraid to try to track stuff down, and know that the GDC is not a deal breaker as far as your career goes. I personally wouldn't put, "Went to GDC twice, really liked it, talked to people" on a resume or anything, and when you know you're ready to market yourself there the location won't matter - it'll all come together.

Although it's not really for students, there is Game Convention in Leipzig, which is August 20-24 this year.

This convention is run by a different company than the one that puts on GDC, Austin GDC, and Game Career Seminar.

I just got an reply from one job application that i sent away yesterday who knows maybe thats a start into a new world
