Awesome, but that doesn't answer one of my questions. Is it worth it to devote the time learning 3D studio max in your opinion, or should I just use the engine that comes with A7?

If you want to be a modeler and can afford 3ds Max, use Max, else use whatever you feel more comfortable with.
