There appears to be a lot of game devs in this community and I wanna know how they balance their time between playing games and making games. So how do you do it? Or do game devs just focus on their careers?

Just a wild guess, but I doubt they do it any differently than someone working any other job.

Well I for one try to set aside time every few days to get my game on. It may not be as much time as I used to spend but games are what I love so I try to play as often as I can to remind me why I do it. O and I don't include any of the time I get to play games at work since that is usually just random rounds of Street Fighter or peggle.

Handhelds and/or pick and play games for me. Or in some cases, just bring the console into work with you and have LAN games after work/lunchtimes.

I stand corrected. I'm guessing that doesn't happen in too many industries.

Its probably just me but I have a bit of a problem when I play games like Neverwinter and get this "just one more quest" feel and end up playing the whole day away. I really should set my priorities. Hehe.. EDIT: I also thought that the perspective you get from being developers and being end-users might be different. Just like watching David Blaine do his street magic starts to lose its touch on you when you start doing them yourself. Last edited by Sazabi02 : 08-10-2008 at 04:23 PM. |

It does change the way you play, but that does not stop you from wanting to play.
