I completely agree with this post. Python is the language I'd start with since you have no prior experience. Also, with Python, you can start programing games (though basic), very early in your learning.

The people who have developed bad programming practices from learning C++ such as using undefinded behaviour in certain compilers, using low level tricks to achieve things without commenting them appropriately.
