Is Softimage too complex to start off on? Also, is there a site or such in order to learn how to use the very basics of the 3D software? What do you guys recommend?

I prefer using 3Ds Max to model in but I believe you can download a Personal Learning Edition of Maya here http://www.autodesk.co.uk/adsk/servl...32&id=11646991. There's no time limit on it but you're only allowed to use it for non-commercial projects.
Hope this helps ![]()

I used the Learning edition of Maya to learn some basics of 3D modeling. The only thing is there is a giant watermark on it, but if you are just using it to learn it is fine.

Thanks guys, I appreciate your support very much, also the free edition of Maya isn't there anymore. It was possibly removed or something, but when I clicked it, it gave me zilch, thanks for trying though.

That link I posted in my previous post should work (it did for me). Anyway, I believe Blender's another free modelling tool to use. You may have to google it though. I have only used Maya and Max myself so I'm not sure how steep the learning curve is, but I'm sure you'll do fine
![]() Edit: Whoops! Sorry, should've checked the link to the PLE first!

It does appear to be missing. Try: http://www.download.com/Autodesk-May...-10721815.html

Milkshape is another alternative which is free to use for non-commerical purposes.
