Default Difference between an associate and assistant producer

I've been looking at the job titles for some of the roles in production and while most are self explantory, I'm confused about the difference between an associate producer and an assistant producer. Are these the same job but will depend on which company you apply to? Or are they different positions and one is higher than the other?

As far as I can tell, yes. Those two job titles are comparable and are used fairly interchangeably.

Just found this definition regarding the difference between an associate and an assistant producer if anyone is interested.

"One way to categorize associate producers is that they have the capability to manage one or more independent SKUs without daily input from their managers. But an associate producer would generally not be a manager for a single product or an entire product line. As an example, associate producers are often responsible for the Game Boy version or the port of the original game to that platform, or are responsible for one of the other SKUsóbut not the lead SKU (like the Xbox and PC SKU). The role varies from company to company. When in doubt, check recent job postings to make sure you understand the requirements for candidates for this role." Quoted from Traits of a Successful Producer, Chapter 3 - Habits of Highly Effective Producers, The Game Producer's Handbook .
