Hey Kodiak, I hope you don't mind, but your blurb gave me an idea for a pic for this challenge

How do these challenges work? Do you mind if we team up on this one?

Is there a page limit on this challenge? It doesn't mention one.

Cuddlecactus,

There are usually no limits to what you can submit, but remember that a tight package with a concise message will be much more effective than one that covers too vast a scope. The judges receive many entries and need to have their attention caught quickly rather than have to slog through a large volume of material to find the gem you are trying to present.

I'd suggest referring to other winning entries as a gauge to determine what has been successful in the past. You may also want to look up the 'elevator pitch' mentioned elsewhere on this site to see why brevity is essential.

Mako, you can go ahead and use the concept. That's what these forums are for. Bouncing ideas around. Whatever you come up with will be unique from my approach, so feel free to use it as inspiration.

Isn't there usually a 500 word + 3 image guide though? Perhaps they're the only ones I've ever looked at though and I'm just unlucky?

But yeah, unless you present 10 pages in a really really really interesting way, they probably won't be bothered reading through that much. It's only a concept anything that's 1-2 pages should be more than enough to get the concept across.

You're absolutely right. I couldn't remember the specifics. Thanks for digging them up. I don't think it's a hard and fast rule, but definitely a guideline that the judges appreciate we follow.

As far as length goes, I think the essential part is that you say as much as possible as quickly as possible without sacrificing clarity. In the only design I submitted (Architectura: Metamorphosis) I couldn't narrow it to under 1,000 words despite the 500 word limit, and if you can't either, then don't worry about it too much!

Cheers.

I just thought of another game it happened to: Halo 3:ODST.

Also, I thought of a Red Shirts game as well, but couldn't figure out how to make it a game. I did end up sending in another idea though

Hello, I'm sticking to the usual rules and assuming that the specifics were accidentally left out(?).

'Submissions should be no more than 500 words and may contain up to three images. Be sure to include your full name and school affiliation or job title.'

Just dropping in to let everyone know that I'm working on something befitting my username, and to expect very interesting things. I was hesitant at first to enter this challenge, having a lot of other things I need to take care of this month. However, an idea came to me and it was just too much fun to pass up.

I don't need to sleep this week anyways.
