I'm working on updating my website and would love to get some feedback. Now that I've finally figured out Dreamweaver and how to update content myself, I plan on keeping my site much more up-to-date that it has been in the past.
http://tylerlovemark.com/ Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. I was hoping to get more general feedback at first, just overall impressions, and then hopefully I can present some more specific questions based on what I am hearing. |

tlove,
Those maps look spectacular, and from what I could see they looked fun to play in too. How did you get those assets? I couldn't see your demo. It told me to download Shockwave. I already have Shockwave, but I downloaded it again, still nothing. You might want to look into that as an issue with your site. |

Why is some of the material in the Flat Pack not on the site?

Thank you for bringing that shockwave bug to my attention. It works fine on my computer when viewed with multiple browsers, but I will definitely do some troubleshooting to see what the cause of the issue is.
All the maps were created using the Unreal editor, so many of the assets were created by Epic. I've always been told that I should only put my finest work on my portfolio site. As I create more work, the stuff that isn't quite up to snuff gets tossed out. However, I've heard that when creating a flat packet or physical portfolio, it is then more appropriate to include more information for each project as well as including a wider variety of work, even work that I might not consider "portfolio-worthy". That's why there's more work examples in the flat packet. |

IMO, I much prefer to see the information (such as the overhead maps and blurb) in the portfolio. Your portfolio is only showing stills/renders which is fine if you applying for an Artist role but since you want to be a level designer, I want to see/know everything else about the levels you made.

Would you recommend even putting those top-downs and layouts in a demo reel as well? I always have trouble trying to cut down my content to a good length in a demo reel because there's that urge to show all the cool stuff I did on a project, but that often comes into conflict with showing content in a timely manner.

Not for the video (it will make it too long TBH) but add it for the online portfolio.

Speaking of the video, have you Yaustar had trouble viewing it?

It asked me to install a plugin so I didn't bother viewing it. Other people will do the same if it requires anything more then Flash or Quicktime.

That definitely needs to be taken care of then.
Right now on my list I've got: -fix demo reel video player -upload top-downs for levels -update download section with game submission from the Global Game Jam |
