Its going to be a puzzle RPG that uses your text to control the character, with keywords doing things like changing direction or using items and non-keywords controlling how far you walk or (maybe) how strong of an attack you use. ![]() Now for the fun and time consuming part of figuring out how to parse all the text. |

I think a hash table would work.

OH yea, thats what I'm doing, I just meant figuring out the logic, I'm not really a programmer but I love figuring out stuff like that. I have him moving around based on how many words you type before giving a direction command, but he ignores solid items unless he's standing right next to them before the command to move goes through. Easy fix, just gotta make him move in single steps, checking if he'd run up against a solid before moving.

Nilbmar,
Your game seems like it uses direct control. keyword = action. nonkeyword = movement. What am I missing? |

Quirky theme music. Now that I think about it again, you're right, it is direct control.
I think I can salvage it though, thanks for the heads up. |

![]() It might not look like much yet, but this was something of a Black Triangle moment. ![]() (Fingers crossed this will turn into a game before the deadline...)

Haha I know that feeling. I've spent most of my time on this project working on the level editor. It lets you click & drag scenery props into the level, resize them, change the layer they're displayed on, set their type and special attributes and save it out to xml's that can be serialized directly into the game - and I'm quite happy with it. In game on the other hand my lemmings can still only walk & bash through some walls. I should probably work on them some more, alas we're approaching a deadline at work, so I tend to spend my lunch working on our title rather than my side project.
So how many people are working on something for this challenge? |

Performance-wise it's shit, and I still need to dust off my Linear Algebra book and find out how to do vector reflections again, but I quite like what I got going on here, so far.
