Deception is a great concept, this should be an interesting challenge. Especially given the humorous slant.

And before anyone trashes it, "Never gonna give you up" is a great song.

I want to enter this one but don't have a clue yet on what to do. Should be very interesting, looking forward to the results.

This seems like a cool challenge, I'll definitely be gining it a shot- had a few ideas in my head during the drive to work so now just gotta remember them.

One idea I had was to tie the game into facebook as essentially a social bluffing game, although not entirely sure how the mechanics would work.

The first idea that came to my head was something like Ruse but I think I'm gonna do a brainstorming session tonight and see what pops out... this and the programming challenge means I'm gonna be a busy bee for a while

I said it was a great song!

Anyways, this challenge reminds me of a short article I wrote for my private blog (kind of a design journal for my own use), concerning deception and how it could be used to create a more natural, complex world.

The specific example I gave compared the relatively harmless Scarlet Kingsnake and Coral Snake; both inhabit the same area, have the same red, yellow, and black stripes, but one is lethal and the other is not. Only by knowing which detail to spot (The order and size of the stripes) can you tell the difference. To players, all they see is "Snake" as a text description, and then need to figure out what kind of snake it is by understanding their color patterns.

Though the concept I explored in the article doesn't exactly work here, the example does raise an interesting idea; players purposely trying to mimic and deceive each other through various methods.

The general theme of this challenge seems to be tricking people into falling for something that looks innocuous but ends up being... an awesome 80's song. I think a fun game could be made around methods of visual deception such as camouflage, mimicry, etc. Because of the example above, I keep coming back to a Spore-like game where you create a little monster and then have to run him around using deception to survive.

The core of the game doesn't use 'invisibility' as a stealth mechanic, or any of the other crap that people have come up to substitute for real stealth; staying out of sight and blending in.

I'm also thinking False Flag might be an interesting premise for a game, but doesn't exactly fit the theme... maybe as part of a greater, deceptive whole.

I'll think on it, but I'm not sure what kind of game is lurking there.

I'm game.

This should provide ample opportunity for gloriously fresh gameplay.
