Hi everyone. My name is Blinn (not IRL).
I believe I have enough writing ability to call myself a writer. I'm interested in starting a project for a PC game. But it's never easy to design a video game all by myself, so I was thinking I should talk to someone. Share my ideas, and consider others' suggestions as well. I'm an 18-year-old with Asperger's Syndrome. I'm fresh out of high school and am now considering starting a career in video games. I plan to put my writing skills where they are needed, and have experience in character dialogue. As a 16-year old, I started writing fan stories for Pokemon. Over the last two years, I've written 28 chapters and have started two other stories. I'm also writing an original novel. Apart from writing, I can also draw art and compose music (but only MIDI so far, due to my limited resources). My musical ability is decent, but I am only modestly skilled at art. I can draw well enough to give a basic look of something, but I lack experience (and skill for that matter) in shading. Here is a sample of my music: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uKLiv...eature=related If anyone would like a sample of my writing, by all means, send me a PM and I'll link you to my fan story. It's a Pokemon story, but I'm willing to bet that you're most interested in the writing than the fact that it's Pokemon. I am very new to the game development business, even though I have done some casual research in the past. So, I'd be very grateful if someone could listen to and critique my ideas for a video game, root out the flaws, iron out the issues, and improve the ideas. ![]() |

Is there a reason why you don't just want to flesh them out on the forums? Unfortunately I don't frequent this site enough to be of much help over pm.
If you want to use your writing ability to make games, make text adventures and/or learn how to use gamemaker--which has a free lite version that still has a lot of features. Twine is a good engine for text adventures. A good way to flex your idea muscles is to participate in the game design challenges on this site. . I will definitely check out the game design challenges. Though I'm not quite sure yet where to post my ideas. |
