I wrote a reply to Marly's Big Question topic, edited it once to add a link and the post disappears. Is this a flaw with the forum's engine or is someone actively deleting posts? If it is the latter, I would like to know why.
Edit: I am beginning to think it is something to do with the number of URL links in a post to prevent spamming and they are not actually being deleted, just removed and waiting for moderation?

Posts are sometimes automatically deleted, and yes, I think it has to do with URLs embedded in them.
Sometimes the administrators (myself being one) delete posts but those are always blatan -s-pam messages.

Admittedly that's a pain as it makes it extremely difficult to reference online material to users. If it is just awaiting moderation rather then deletion then that is fine.
Rewriting posts isn't exactly fun .

Do I actually have any posts actually in moderation? It not, I will rewrite some of my posts and work my way around the URL filter.

I've had that happen to me a couple of times. I embedded an outside url, and I immediately got a 'waiting for moderator approval' message, and after waiting a few days, I tried rewriting the question and including the link again. Again, the same message appeared. It has been weeks since that happened, and I have yet to see either post show up, yaustar, so I would recommend trying without explicit links in the post.

Yeah, I had to start cheating and do things like:
google.com Which doesn't get parsed as a hyperlink.

I might have to do that too. I had just given up for the time being and moved on without an answer.

I don't know anything about running a forum, but I propose a new system: Perhaps posts with URLs embedded in the could be deleted until a member has 10 or more posts. Most spammers are bots, or do not have the patience to make multiple posts before creating spam topics. It keeps the same spam defenses, but prevent the post-deletion problem in contributing members. That sounds like a good idea.
