hi guys.. i m relatively new here.. but i have been listening to you at the forum, for some days.. i am 23. and i am n indian
.. (nope.. i m good ....! ) m about to finish my diploma in animation next year.. by the time i wud like to b ready to do a specialization in Game art (and design).. i like to draw.. not the best one myself though, but i am improving.. (can say..! ) cud you help me out. here r th questions :1. i think i m more of a Game artist or Animator; than a Level Designer, and the furthest from a Programmer, from what i could say for myself at the end of my little online research about the topic. Or, in other simple words, my really heart pounds when i hear "Game artist" or "Video Game - Animator", now that i have an idea what these guys are doing, but it doesnt move a muscle when i hear someone shout "Video Game Programmer"; even though it jolts a little when i hear "Game Level Designer". that being said... 2. does a Bachelors degree in ANIMATION, qualify me to be considered for a post of "Video Game animator". i know that it doesnt ensure a job. that's y i want to know if its "qualifies" me to stand up ? 3. for a game artist (even a little of Programming is okay, i studied C++ and was okay to have scored 80+ for the college degree in Biotechnology that i dropped out of...!!! but still i wudnt be choosing it over a Game Artist career, though it could be a possible third option), i need to be sure with a Bachelor's Degree in Arts rite ? but does that make my Diploma in Animation die in vain ???? 4. If there exists some option out there, where i could be equipped with more than a Diploma in Animation ? Or is a diploma in animation just okay, as in enough to start applying for a game animator okay, if i could come out with a nice animator portfolio.. the diploma i m doing is pretty good with teaching animation though on a global scale i think its more of a "whats that?" thing.. 5. Diploma in animation + Bachelors in Arts = will work ?? ![]() THANKS for your reply.. I will be waiting like hell for your reply. Akky. |

2. "Yes".
3. Don't understand the question. 4. You can get a job with a diploma alone. You can get one with a degree as well. And finally, it is possible to get one without any formal education. 5. Well, yeah. Why wouldn't it? What are you trying to ask?

Or is it just enough that he d be a good animator ? i have no idea.. are game animators, normal animators ? is there some sort of bridging course or something ? games do use a different platform right ? |

It is recommended that you get a degree. A degree plus a portfolio (and the ability to write well-written questions) will get you far. Some folks might not even look at your portfolio if your resume doesn't show a degree.

What is a 'normal' animator? If someone wanted to do stop motion animation, what course would they study?
Regardless of what course you do, you need to know how to use the tools that the jobs needs and prove it in a portfolio. All animators should know the theory and base techniques of animation. Those rarely differ between specialities.

eh.. i meant to be a 3D animator.. Eh.. i kinda have one question.. mite be my stupidity but, i am gonna ask anyway.. Does game companies hire Animators or do they have something like Animation for Games ? I know the principles are just the same, but i am talking about the platform.. i guess both are the same like Yaustar said Quote:
