ok, looks like we have our ftp site...lol...
I checked out on gamedev.net and looks like they recently launched a competition called four elements...will this motivate the project? check it out http://www.gamedev.net/community/con...e6/default.asp There is also google's new sdk for android. We can develop either a 2d/3d game. They used openGL api. http://www.engadget.com/2007/11/12/g...now-available/ http://code.google.com/android/documentation.html Last edited by chrono1699 : 11-12-2007 at 08:24 AM. |

Regarding 4 elements, It would be silly to enter the competition thinking we would win. Usually small teams that are together will participate in those contests. That and they tend to be larger more flushed out games then what we should be focusing on.
orin999 - I tried viewing your demo but it won't load. Lets decide on a platform. Anyone interested in coding for the project please quote the following line and reply with what languages you know. Then quote the second line and state what you specialize in. I have coding experience in the following fields: I specialize in:

I can't participate with the actual creation of the game due to HagNasty's previous statement over IP and my contract which conflicts but I think I can get away with code reviews if needed.
I have coding experience in the following fields: C++ Lua I specialize in: GP2X Preliminary GBA work SDL 2D

I have coding experience in the following fields:
C++ C (not a lot) C# Java (not a lot) DirectX OpenGL I specialize in: As of right now I don't really specialize in anything. For a 2d game I have done pretty much everything before. Animation Engine and Editor. AI (very basic) and some other stuff.

Here's another version of my demo http://www.10is2.net/demo.html the other one was wmv and therefore does not stream you have to completely download it. This one is an mp4 so quicktime will be needed to watch it but it will stream from the internet.
I have coding experience in the following fields: C++ TorqueScript UnrealScript ActionScript PHP MySQL javascript VisualBasic I specialize in: right now i am a web programmer trying to get programming experience but if i dont know it i learn it quickly. I don't think it will be a problem. Working on a game with industry professionals will only make things better.
It looks like we have many more C++ guys out there so we should let that be our language of choice. Now that we have a language what engine should we use. We can either use lowLevel DirectX/OpenGL or an Engine of your choice.

I guess that depends on what type of game we are making. Considering we have no 3D artists (?), a 2D game should be more doable in which case I suggest SMFL , Popcap framework, HGE, or something similar level.
