  • Anark Sells Entertainment Division

    [05.13.08]
  • Development tool and middleware provider Anark has announced the sale of its Entertainment Software Division alongside a new round of series 4 financing.

Anark's ESD produces Gameface, a user interface design and integration package targeted at video game developers. Though Anark did not specify a purchaser, a Gameface support email link on the company site's front page directs to an Nvidia domain, suggesting a likely buyer. Nvidia has licensed Anark products in the past.

Last August, Anark released version 4.0 of Gameface, increasing integration with various game engines and authoring tools, and adding features such as real-time previewing for PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3.

Last year, Gamasutra spoke with Anark business development director Frank Black about the ins and outs of the software. Notable licensees include Lionhead, Silicon Knights, Nihilistic, Insomniac, Next Level Games, Turn 10, and LucasArts.

The new financing will be used entirely to focus on Anark's non-game enterprise-oriented efforts, such as its 3D CAD-PLM and Visulation division.
