  • Outsourcing Firm Streamline Studios Reemerges In Malaysia

    [12.07.10]
  • Outsourcing firm Streamline Studios said Tuesday it founded a new studio in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, about one year after the company had to close down its Amsterdam-based production studio.

Streamline Studios Malaysia co-director Mike Shurtleff said the new studio is offering digital content creation for iOS, social, casual and console games. The new Asia location opens up new low-cost production opportunities, he added.

Currently, the new studio is working on "several" unannounced projects. Streamline's past work includes content for Gears of War, Unreal Tournament, Ghost Recon and Saints Row, among other titles. Leading the Malaysia location are co-directors Shurtleff and Stefan Baier, one of Streamline's original founders.

Streamline Studios closed down its Amsterdam-based production facility in November 2009 following a difficult business year and mounting global economic issues. Baier said today that Asia-based content creation can help add significant value for Streamline's partners.

"The industry faces new market realities that demand more than just low-cost asset production. In Asia we’re providing higher value content creation and dependable pipelines, with integration expertise that is necessary to compete in today's market," he said.
