  • Game Programming All in One Book Released

    [11.09.06]
  • Course PTR has announced the release of Game Programming All in One, third edition, which aims to give aspiring game programmers the skills that are needed to create professional-quality games. Readers without background in C or C++ should start with books on the topic of programming in general, since All in One relates the specifics of programming for games.

Using the cross-platform Allegro game library, readers learn how to write complete games that will run on almost any operating system. Both Windows® and Linux® screenshots are displayed throughout. Using the techniques taught within this book and the tools included on the CD-ROM, readers should be able to write standard Windows and DirectX® programs without the cost of an expensive compiler.

The book comes with everything needed to write complete games, including the compiler, editor, and game library, as well as information about cross-platform coverage, how to use multi-platform and open-source tools to create 2D games, and both Windows and Linux screenshots.

Author Jonathan S. Harbour has been an avid gamer and programmer for many years and holds a degree in Computer Information Systems. He has written many books on the subject of game programming, including Microsoft Visual Basic Game Programming with DirectX®, Microsoft Visual Basic .NET Programming for the Absolute Beginner, Beginner’s Guide to DarkBASIC Game Programming, and Game Programming All in One, 2nd Edition.
