  • Virtual Heroes' CEO To Talk Game Economics

    [11.10.06]
  • The Raleigh, NC-based Wake Technical Community College has announced a new free lecture by Virtual Heroes founder and CEO Jerry Heneghan covering the economics of making games and the economies of online games, to be held on Wednesday, November 15.

The talk will begin at 12:15 p.m., and will take place at the Technical Education Building, Room 105A, on the college’s main campus. The lecture is free, and is the latest edition of a series of such talks hosted by the college’s simulation and game development curriculum and sponsored by the National Science Foundation.

Heneghan, who also presented at the recent Serious Games Summit, served as the executive producer on the popular serious game, America's Army. He has also worked as a program manager for Research Triangle Institute, where he created medical training technologies, and as a game producer at Ubisoft/Red Storm.

Wake's speaker series began this fall with lectures from Rafael Chandler of Media Sunshine sharing his knowledge of storytelling, Chris Wells of Epic Games exploring art-driven character design, Rett Crocker of 3Dsolve lecturing on creating the user experience, Chris Roby of Virtual Heroes examining the human-computer interface, and Patrick Sebring of Ubisoft/Red Storm explaining gameplay. In addition, Ubisoft/Redstorm's Gary Stelmack is scheduled to give a talk on game balancing for the final lecture of the series on November 29.
