  • Algoma U's MSc in Computer Games Technology Accepting Applications

    [01.17.07]
  • Aspiring computer games designers may now apply for a chance to study in North America through an innovative partnership between Sault Ste. Marie's Algoma University College and the University of Abertay Dundee in Scotland.

Algoma U is the exclusive North American host of Abertay Dundee's Master of Science in Computer Games Technology (MSc CGT) - the first master's-level degree in the field to be offered in Canada.

The three-semester, 12-month MSc CGT program fuses many aspects of the gaming process - programming, design and business - into one professional degree. Students will study Game Design and Development, Programming for the Xbox and PC, Console Games Programming, The Games Marketplace, and Artificial Intelligence for Games, among other courses. Students in the program will study on Algoma U's riverside campus in Sault Ste. Marie, with instruction via state-of-the-art video conferencing technology.

The program emphasizes team production of a working game prototype - giving Abertay Dundee grads the advantage of a practical work portfolio as they embark upon their game development careers. Upon completion of this program, graduates will be ready for a career in game development, armed with an industry-backed Master's degree recognized worldwide. Recent graduates of the Abertay Dundee program are currently employed by Electronic Arts, Rockstar, SEGA Racing Studios, Realtime Worlds, Codemasters, and countless indie game developers.

For more information, including application deadlines, visit the MSc CGT program website.
