  • Learning Games Network Extends Student Video Contest Deadline

    [06.25.09]
  • The Learning Games Network has extended the deadline for its student video contest. Students now have until July 31st to submit their entries for consideration in the Learning Games Network's judging process.

The competition encourages students to submit their stories and ideas regarding how video games can change the face of modern education. Contest entries may fall into one of two categories -- "My 'Aha' Moment" or "My Dream Assignment."

"My Aha Moment" entries must describe a gaming moment in which a personal connection was made between the contents of a video game and a concept that was previously learned in school or at home. The "My Dream Assignment" category features entries in which students suggest a video game to play in a classroom setting, in order to more effectively convey concepts within an area of study.

Each category will be judged across three age groups: middle school, high school, and post-secondary. Each first place winner, as selected by the Learning Games Network's panel of judges, will receive an HP Pavilion dv6 series notebook. Winners of the user-voted "People's Choice" contest will receive an iPod Shuffle.

Entries in both categories must be submitted in video format. Slideshow materials and artwork may be included in each submission.

The contest is open to all current students over the age of 13 in the United States. "People's Choice" voting on submitted entries will begin at the Learning Games Network's website on August 1st, and will conclude on August 31st.
