  • Educational Games Publisher Mindshapes Secures $5M In Funding

    [11.01.11]
  • Mindshapes, a digital publisher of children's apps and games, announced today that it has secured $5 million in a round of Series A funding.

The London and San Francisco-based company, founded in October 2010, aims to provide children with games that promote learning through play.

This round of investing will allow the company to extend its reach to new platforms, while also releasing two new educational products.

Magic Town is an upcoming interactive storytelling iOS and browser-based app that will feature franchises such as Elmer, Winnie the Witch, and Little Princess, while Language City is a task-based virtual world that is soon to launch as a closed beta.

David Begg, CEO at Mindshapes, explained, "We are passionate about using the latest technology and contemporary educational thinking to change the way that children learn around the world."

"This investment will accelerate our plans to become the world's most trusted digital publisher of high quality educational games, books and learning worlds as we continue to expand."

Mindshapes is currently staffed by former employees from the likes of Playfish, Sesame Workshop, Scholastic, HarperCollins, Cbeebies, Sega, and Sony.
