Northumbria University is set in the heart of Newcastle, with a vibrant student community. The University has links with a number of games companies in the Newcastle area. As well as general multimedia and design courses, the University has two courses specific to games: BSc Computer Games Software Engineering. This is aimed at students who are aiming at programming roles and contains a large number of programming modules. The course is technical and includes some mathematics, so there is a minimum maths requirement for admission. This sandwich course includes a year working in the industry. BSc Computer Games Design and Developmet. This is aimed at students who are aiming for design roles. The course includes a number of unique modules on games, creativity and the development process. The course also includes some business and project management content. A year working in the industry is an optional component within this course.
