Entertainment Arts and Engineering at the University of Utah is a new joint program between
the School of Computing and the Division of Film Studies in the College
of Fine Arts. The purpose of this program is to provide an
undergraduate, interdisciplinary academic path for those students that wish to have careers in the digital media and
entertainment industry (video games, digital animation, computer generated special effects, etc.).
Students in the program can choose either a bachelor's degree in
Film Studies or Computer Science. The program has been set up so it
fits within the degree requirements of Film or CS by specifying most of
a student's electives.
A key feature of this program is its interdisciplinary nature.
Students from both CS and Fine Arts will take common classes throughout
their undergraduate years, culminating in a year long senior project
where students will build a video game or animation from the ground up.
