  • The Digital Arts Center ( DAC ) is a branch of the University of California, San Diego, Extension.  DAC offers professional training in various digital media art fields such as graphic & web design, video production, mobile apps & game design.

    Casual Gaming Program The Digital Arts Center offers a game design program for casual games. In the comprehensive one year program, develop a broad range of skill sets from game design to interface design and learn to use art and programming technology to effectively bring a video game project for a casual game from concept to completion. The casual gaming program is designed to provide students with comprehensive professional training in a creative studio environment.   By the end of the program students produce a video game prototype or a complete casual game for Mac, Win, web and/or mobile platforms (including iPhone, iPod, iPad app development).   Whether it is designing game play mechanics, reward systems and interactive storytelling, or the artistry of animating characters, casual game developers work together within a team of smart, creative, and passionate professionals. Making web games is fun! Casual games require no long-term time commitment or special skills to play, and they are typically played online via a web browser or a smartphone. According to the Casual Games Association, over 200 million people play casual games each month on the internet. Our applications development is based in the Unity Game Development Tool. This multiplatform game engine can publish standalone builds for Mac/Win, publish a web game, or publish to iPhone, iPod, iPad and more.     Looking for a video production school? UC San Diego Extension Digital Arts Center multimedia training includes the principles of storytelling, videography, motion graphics and audio. Today, a knowledgeable multimedia student has the power to create film titles and trailers, video, graphics and sound for TV, and corporate media, commercials for TV, radio and interactive media--all from a desktop or laptop computer. Students will complete a series of projects developing rich media content illustrating the history, current activities and future aspirations of non-profit organizations with podcasts, flash animations, streaming video of interviews and a mini-documentary. Completing these video production projects allows students to develop a valuable working portfolio while obtaining practical experience in real-world situations.
