Since 1996, the Computer SCience Department of Otto-von-Guericke University Magdeburg offers a 5-year diploma programme in "Computervisualistik" (German), complemented in 1997 by an international M.Sc. programme in computational visualistics (3 semester, English).

Since 1999, a two-term (one year) cycle of lectures "Computer game design I: Techniques and Reflections" and "Computer game design II: Algorithms and Tools" is part of the curriculum -- the first lectures on that theme at German universities.
