Media Informatics and
Interactive Entertainment
The study course is offered by the University
of Applied Sciences Mittweida one of the most renowned media
universities of Germany. The course is one of the few game programs
in Germany taught at a public university and thus free of high
tuition fees.
Rather than just being taught how to use
different game production tools, students receive
a substantiated university education in the field of gaming and
computer sciences. Due to the universities long tradition in actually
producing media in close connection to the lectures, students can
hone their skills by realizing their own game projects. Through a
close contact to media professionals and decision makers of the game
industry students are able to find and define unique skill sets
fitting to their career choices and also giving them a chance to
already cooperate with future employers during their time at the
university.
Both
study tracks Creative Content Design (CCD) and Informatics
Applications (IA) lead to a Bachelor of Science degree.
CCD, containing
Game Art and Design, is suited for students being interested in
developing content for interactive entertainment projects. The main
focus is put on conception, dramaturgy, design and animation. These
will be combined with economic competence with regard to production
and marketing of the content. This specialization prepares students
for working as 3D Designer, Animator, Concept Artist, Media Author,
Game Designer and similar appointments.
In the
specialization field of IA, containing Game Programming, the students
will achieve a profound training as programmer or software engineer
for the media and entertainment industry. It prepares the students
for working as Game Programmer, Media Computer Scientist and
Developer for Content Management Systems and similar appointments.
