  • SMU Guildhall is the premier graduate video game education program in the United States. The program offers a master’s degree in interactive technology and a graduate certification. The program has graduated over 600 students who have worked for more than 250 of the world’s leading video game companies, giving Guildhall the largest number of alumni working the gaming industry of any graduate gaming program in the world. The purpose of the school is to prepare artists, level designers, programmers, and producers for the video game industry. Many of the school’s advisers and founders are industry icons. In addition, industry veterans make up the faculty. At SMU Guildhall, the curriculum is focused around a team approach and interdisciplinary thought and action. The curriculum is set up so that four unique skill sets are working on all team game projects. One person alone cannot program, design, develop, and produce the content for a game, it takes a team-centric environment, and that is the stringent equation that SMU Guildhall adheres to. While working in teams, students have the opportunity to take on lead and supporting roles, and will learn traditionally as well as through self expression and exploration.
