Pyramind is a unique educational environment dedicated to those who have a passion for creating, recording and producing music and working in audio post-production.
Designed for the serious professional and developing recording artist, Pyramind's certificate programs are the result of over forty years of collective experience producing, composing, sound designing, engineering and mixing, as well as studio design and installation, teaching and consulting.
The curriculums are firmly based on the three skills needed for success: technology, creativity and business. At Pyramind, we believe that today's producer and artist need a solid understanding of all three disciplines to survive in the highly competitive music and audio industries. You are sure to gain real world skills when you apply to Pyramind.
The Core
The Core is the foundation of Pyramind's training programs.
Designed for career-minded students seeking to become active content
creators in today's pro audio industry, it blends what we consider to be
the three themes of success in any creative field: Creativity,
Technology, and Business.
Within those three areas the subjects
covered are both fundamental and wide-ranging, including beginning and
intermediate courses in:
- Music theory
- Music production
- Synthesis
- Game sound
- Recording
- Remixing
- Music business, and more.
The Core student will also learn four major creative applications -
Pro Tools, Logic Studio, Ableton Live, and Reason - plus some of the
popular Waves, McDSP, and Native Instruments series of audio plugins.
And all Core graduates earn the following industry certifications (5 total):
- Pro Tools Operator Music
- Logic Studio Levels 1 & 2
- Waves Certification A
- Ableton Live.
Beginners will find the pace of the 8-month Core to be challenging
without being overwhelming. Those with previous sound experience will
appreciate the depth of the training, as well as the pace. And all
students, no matter their experience level, will gain valuable
real-world information about the technologies and best practices of the
sound industry today by attending classes taught by instructors who are
doing daily work as part of our production division.
Finally, Core graduates are also given a student membership to the
National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, producers of the
Grammy's.
The net result is a training program designed to get young
content-creation careers off the ground, and give a much-needed boost to
those looking to grow or modernize their skills for today's audio
industry.
The Digital Sound Producer (DSP) Program
The Digital Sound Producer (DSPc) is the most
complete curriculum offered by Pyramind Studios, providing advanced
training in all aspects of sound. Students interested in the DSP should
be prepared for an intense and rewarding educational experience that
will prepare them for some of the most demanding jobs in the industry.
DSP graduates have gone on to hold creative positions at companies
like Sony PlayStation, DoubleFine Studios, and work on properties such
as "Star Wars: The Old Republic", "Watchmen", "God of War 3", "Dante's
Inferno","Brutal Legend", "Infamous", and more, in addition to
developing their own successful personal projects.
The DSP builds on the subjects offered in the Core and extends them
to professional levels. The subjects of music theory, production,
synthesis, and game sound each feature additional classes. The DSP also
includes four more subjects - music mixing & mastering, 5.1
surround-sound mixing, video production, and DVD authoring - that
further expand the student's skills.
At this advanced level, many classes are project-based, giving DSP
students a heavy creative workload. This ensures that the full arsenal
of students abilities are tested and refined; everything from technical
and musical skills to software "chops" and business acumen.
The DSP also includes 4 additional highly sought-after industry certifications in addition to the 4 found in the Core:
- Pro Tools Expert Certification in Music
- Pro Tools Operator Post
- Apple Final Cut Pro
- WAVES Gold
Finally, the DSP grants students memberships to The National Academy
of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS, producers of The Grammys) and the
Game Audio Network Guild (GANG), two global networks of industry
professionals that gives the DSP graduate a running start into an
innovative, successful career.
It's a lot to take in, but for those looking to grow from content
creators to the industry-defining professionals of tomorrow, the DSP is
your ticket.
