The objective of the program is to help the student attain an understanding of game content creation, communicate a game's premise and to design satisfying puzzles out of the experience of the game. The game designer lays out the choices and options with an underlying purpose or story in mind.
Students in this program will begin with fundamental art courses, acquiring a combination of drawing, perspective, 2D design and animation skills. They will move on to study characters, backgrounds, lighting and scene setup, level design, prototyping and textures used in producing games and multimedia. The program also includes instruction in programming and scripting, project management, production teamwork, and time and resource management necessary for the gaming industry. Students will learn the importance of creating portfolios and reels that reflect their knowledge of the game industry.
