Seneca College of Applied Art and Technology - Animation Arts Centre
ANIMATION ADVANCED DIPLOMA PROGRAM (ANI)
This six semester advanced diploma program is designed to give the student
the skills necessary to succeed in both traditional and computer animation
production industries. Developed to meet the specific demands of animation
studios in need of highly-trained animators, the curriculum focuses on the
development of individual creative expression using experimental and innovative
animation techniques.
This is accomplished through the artistic application of the theories of motion,
timing, storytelling, entertainment and the use of the most current technology
required to work successfully in the competitive world of 2D and 3D animation
i.e. film, television, and 3D gaming. Students who have a strong artistic grounding
in classical animation or computer animation are encourgaged to apply.
3D ANIMATION GRADUATE CERTIFICATE PROGRAM (dan)
This course is designed to give each student a solid understanding of the modeling,
animating, and rendering capabilities of MAYA, with a particular emphasis
on developing problem-solving skills. Once the student has completed the basics
aspects of modeling, animation, and rendering, the course is structured to
allow the student the freedom to explore aspects of the software that are of
interest to them.
Traditional animation topics covered will include character
design, animation theory and storyboarding. Classes will include open studio time
during which the instructor will be available for one–on–one sessions to guide
advanced studies. Studios are open 24 hours with a partial TA support to provide
the student with maximum computer contact.
3D GAMING GRADUATE CERTIFICATE PROGRAM (GAM)
This course is focused on the art and design of creating characters, animation
and models for gamers. Traditional art skills will be expanded on to create custom
textures, realistic models, and quality character animation for the game industry.
Part of the core curriculum is to develop playable game assets and modes of
current popular games using a real world production pipeline and process.
The strength of this program lies in the experience of our instructors, modelers,
animators, texture artists and projects managers: All of our core instructors are
gaming industry professionals who have worked on published games for PS2,
X-BOX, GameCube, Mac & PC, PS One, Nintendo DS and GameBoy Advance.
As an AutoDesk Training Center we also employ AutoDesk Certified Instructors.
Each class will consist of hands-on productions, exercises and projects using
3D Studio Max and Adobe Photoshop. The curriculum includes traditional life
drawing, character design, story development, and animation principles.
Teaching assistant support is provided and students are allowed unlimited lab
access whenever classes are not in progress.
