The multimedia program focuses on integrating sound, image, text, and interactivity into works that reach their audience as Web sites, CD-ROMs, on-site installations, or electronic music projects. Students may choose to focus on multimedia as fine art, as commercial communication, or both. The program prepares students with the latest technical skills and also with a core of capabilities that will remain invaluable even as technology changes. Graduates of the program are in high demand and pursue an exceptionally wide range of careers.
The minor in Game Design explores the principles that inform games - how they work, how to make them, why they are important, and how they help us understand our world and social interactions. Students learn to construct logical narratives and rules that make possible the creation of an active space in which gaming can take place. Using skills based upon interface and experience design, students program, write and design interactive games. Upon completeing the minor, students will have completed a fully fuctional prototype of an original game.
