    The School of Computing and Intelligent Systems is part of the Faculty of Computing and Engineering. The School is based entirely at the Magee Campus of the university, and has a focus on teaching and research in computer and electronic systems. The School was formed in 2001 following the merger on the Magee Campus of the two former Faculties of Informatics and Engineering and the Built Environment. The School has core teaching competencies in the areas of Computer Science, Electronics, Computer Games and Multimedia Computing and offers undergraduate degree programmes in these areas.

     

    At present the school offers two innovative undergraduate degree programmes in the area of computer games:

     

    BEng Honours Computer Games Development

    This four-year programme will provide you with a wide range of knowledge and skills in computer games development. On completion of this programme, you will be able to contribute to the development of computer games on a PC, Console, embedded and mobile platforms. You will also have developed expertise in programming languages, cutting edge game development technologies and AI. This programme will help you on the way to a career in the emerging and innovative games sector. You will study at the university for the first two years. The third year is a placement year in industry; alternatively, you may choose to study abroad. You then return to the university to complete your final year of study.

     

    BSc Hons Multimedia Computer Games 

    This four-year programme will provide you with a wide range of knowledge and skills in multimedia computing and interactive computer games. On completion of this programme, you will be able to contribute to the development of interactive multimedia computer games. You will have developed expertise in computer-based interactive multimedia, game design, art asset creation and level design. This programme will help you on the way to a career as a developer of interactive computer games. You will study at the university for the first two years. The third year is a placement year in industry; alternatively, you may choose to study abroad. You then return to the university to complete your final year of study.
